The Gene Center receives external funding from the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG), in form of individual grants and awards (Leibniz Prize), program project grants (Sonderforschungsbereiche, SFBs), and an excellence cluster (Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich, CIPSM), from the Humboldt Foundation (Alexander von Humboldt-Professorship), from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF; Research Networks), from the Human Frontier Science Programme (HFSP) and from the EU (ERC Junior and Advanced Investigator Grants).
