Master Biochemistry Application
The Master in Biochemistry at the LMU Munich is a cross-disciplinary program taught exclusively in English and open to German and international students. Each year, we offer two application deadlines for the Master in Biochemistry program: January 15 and July 15. The programs start in April and October, respectively. Your application should include the following documents:
- Short cover letter (no motivation letter!)
- application form ( form - please download, fill in and print)
- Certified copies of academic certificates and/or transcripts:
+ High School Diploma (transcripts of individual grade)
+ Bachelor's Degree (transcript of individual grades or current transcript of records with at least 130 out of 180 ECTS

In order for your application to be successful, you should have a Bachelor in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry or a related topic. Your Bachelor curriculum should include practical courses in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemistry or related fields.
If you have not finished your Bachelor at time of application you can apply with a current transcript of records, showing individual grades for at least 72 % of the required credit points (130 ECTS out of 180 ECTS for German applicants).
In addition, all candidates will have to take a mandatory entrance exam. The mandatory entrance exam will be held 2-3 weeks after each application deadline at the Gene Center in Munich. There will be no other possibility to take the entrance exam but here in Munich at the Gene Ceter at the specified date (see below). Unfortunately, we cannot cover your travel expenses.
In addition to applying to the Masters Program at the Department of Biochemistry, international students will also have to apply for admission to the LMU Munich at the Office of International Affairs. In sum, international students have to send in two applications, one to the Department of Biochemistry and one to the Office of International Affairs of the LMU Munich.
